I will be talking to folks who are involved in business on the internet but this applies to offline business as well. You want visitors to your website or people to come to your shop or workplace. Next you want to convert potential customers into buyers. Finally you want regular customers.
There are a lot of ways to achieve that, but I want to demonstrate how to take advantage of the news and trends to get noticed. Not merely noticed but leaving a good impression with a little help from others. The thing is they do not even know and it is FREE.

Try associating the product or service you sell with the hottest trend. Succeed and you are bound to achieve great results.
This is what the big companies will do. The thing is they pay huge amounts for it and you do not have to. Think of big events like the Olympics, the NBA playoffs and I’m sure you can name many others.
Let us use the Olympics. Like I said companies associate their product with the event. Brand XX will be the official drink, company so and so is the official sponsor, 123 will have the official shoe etc. What do they do? They link their product to something that is hot or in-demand right now.
Since not all of us have a couple million dollars stacked for promotion, let us look at how you can still use this.
What you do is, you mix the trend or event into your sales pitch to create association.
How do you do that? Read these examples to get the idea:
– “The techniques explained by Mr ABC will show you how to be the Kobe Bryant of Online Marketing”
– “Ladies, when you are finished with this diet no one will remember ANTM”
I am sure you have seen the technique. It is being executed all the time. You just need to apply it to your business.
All you have to do is make sure you are aware of the latest news and know what is going on right now. It is that simple.
There are sites who will alert you when new trends set in or new stories are being told. Think of news.google.com, news.yahoo.com, msnbc.com, cnn.com or wherever you get the latest info from now.
An idea: You can subscribe to their RSS feeds so you will be alerted automatically when new stories come in. Instead of you searching for the latest trends and news, let the news come to you. This saves you time!
If you do business localy, make use of local heroes. The college-basketball team who made the playoffs, celebrities who grew up in your town, Mrs Jones who just won the lottery, anything that will appeal to people.
Someone you know loves poker and you are promoting a course on how to make money on the internet. You can put the 2 together so your course can be associated with their passion. Say something like “This high stakes internet marketing program allows you to go all-in and make competitors fold by teaching you this step-by-step method to earn big profits online in the least amount of time.”
Again, this technique associates your product with your client’s passion.
You need to research what your clients like, what they are interested in, what is important to them. Luckily there are many people and companies who research this with surveys and other ways. All you need to do is check for the results. Use search engines to find what information you need on your customers and apply the technique I just showed you.
